Haha Jess I'm the same! I'm only knitting my second jumper now but its the same very basic pattern as the first, and I will no doubt make it again and again. My dad, who is a keen knitter, keeps telling me I'll get bored and I'll want to make something more complicated soon but personally I love an easy mindless knit in the round - much more relaxing than thinking/concentrating! x
i’m a seasonal knitter - although i err toward crochet (easier, innit?!) although i have not progressed past making rectangle shaped things. Baby blankets and scarves mostly! Anything with arms is terrifying frankly. So lovely to see what you’re making!
i’m also starting to wonder if we’re colour twins. I’m obsessed with the same blues as you, and i also randomly reached for my orange ink last week. This has not happened for MONTHS - orange was invisible to me! But now, i’m loving this complementary combo.
Love your posts and work. Hope you get that essay done!
Yes I crocheted first before I started knitting, I still have a crochet project with one sleeve left to go that I just cannot make myself finish. Arms are easy!! Honestly the jumper I'm knitting for Ed now has far less mistakes than the basic snood I made - the snood was FULL of holes, not sure how I managed it. Wooooah that's crazy about the blue and orange!! Orange ink mmmm maybe I ought to buy some. I don't have enough orange in my art supplies for the same reason, was fully invisible to me. I had a try with blues and oranges yest and it went terribly wrong, will try and figure out more this month. Thank you for the essay confidence! xxx
Talking about orange ink - There is an ink from Noodler’s called Apache Sunset which is gorgeous! It has a bit of variation in colour depending on how thick you put it on which is so pretty.
What a joy to read- as always! Your creativity is so inspiring and impressive!! I absolutely love hearing about your knitting adventures. Have you seen the trendy knitted balaclavas? I’ve got that pegged as my next knitting project if I ever get back to it.
Thank you Becca!!! Awww that's so kind. I really need to get my knit on this month, so much to do ! But I think I'll have to hold off and get my head down to do my essay ....doh! Yes I have seen those! I would love to knit one but sadly I would look a fool wearing one. Please let me know how it goes! I'm tempted to make a hooded scarf, I think that would suit my face better and not make me look like Thomas the Tank! xxx
I am dying laughing at that reference- good point- I think I will look like a fool wearing one as well and not at all like the posh fashion girls I see online, but at maybe at least a warm fool? Hehe I’ll let you know if it ever comes off my project list
Hahah so glad you enjoyed, I’ve never used it before it just came to me mid typing and I was also laughing at it 😂 it would literally be my face though! A warm fool sounds good to me, much nicer visually !
I enjoyed reading this. I find it very interesting how your blue and orange paintings tell you about how open you are to warmth. I’ve also always felt like my paintings and drawings are a sort of mirror, revealing things to me that I might otherwise miss.
That blue of your knitted snood is so gorgeous! I love knitting but I can only do one particular jumper. I now have it in several colours haha!
